drug-addicted mother and physically disabled father,
the odds were stacked against me. After the divorce of my parents, my father often struggled to make ends meet and there were many moments during which we wondered where the next meal would come from. Though there were times when school seemed to be my last priority in comparison to problems at home, I never lost sight of my dream to go to college. With resilience and hard work, that dream is now a reality as I am currently a junior at Furman University. College is my gateway to a better life. |
