Opening Doors to Success Day is an annual event held the first Saturday after
the start of school. On that day Greenville County Schools staff and community
volunteers
visit the homes of high school students who have not returned to
school and ask them to
come back.
The youth and adults at the home are given information on resources and
options
available to the student to help them overcome any barriers to returning
to school. In
addition the high schools are open to allow students to enroll that
day and meet with the school
Graduation Coach and guidance counselors.
On Saturday, August 22, Opening Doors to Success Day took place at five
high
schools, Berea High, Greer High, Greenville High, Southside High and Travelers
Rest High.
