Pleasant Valley Legacy Tree Planting

In February, several of our students from Southside High School helped plant legacy red oak trees at Pleasant Valley Connection. These trees will last for up to 100 years.

 

 


League Academy Service Learning Garden Project

On November 7, Graduate Greenville students prepared the garden at League Academy for the winter. After all their hard work, the students were treated to lunch at Golden Corral.


 

 


Bus Seats For Justice Project, January 24, 2009
On January 24, 2009, Graduate Greenville students from Berea, Greenville, andGreer High Schools gathered with seniors from Pleasant Valley Connection to learnabout each other and the civil rights movement in Greenville County.  The seniorsshared their amazing pictures and stories with the students; stories which recountedtheir part in integrating lunch counters, the library, and churches in our town. They talked about being arrested and their fears and determination.  Studentstook the seniors’ pictures and others that they brought depicting their own ideasabout justice and created two “Bus Seats For Social Justice”.  The day was amazingand memorable for students and seniors alike.
Participating students included:

Greenville High – Alicia Harris, Tony Bennett, Kesha Henry, Brooke Whitfield,and Lasasha Wyatt, with graduation coach Michelle Allen
Greer High – John Moorhouse, Josh Agron, Jacky Hernandez, Sabah Fanos, and SamanthaSpecht, with graduation coach Karla Birkel
Participating senior citizens included:
Nettie Jones, Doris Hargrave, Granville Hicks, Robert Fowler, Benjamin Downs,Harold Fowler, and organizer Agnes Young
